Perspective
Written: 4/19/80

I suppose I'm supposed,
To keep winning in life,
With me the "gold" is expected,
A little girl from the "City of Hope",
Whose courage the world respected.

I suppose I'm supposed,
To be impressed with myself,
For the way I coped with cancer,
But I'm really impressed with medicine,
And with God for allowing the answer.

I suppose I'm supposed,
To be always first,
In skiing the downhill race,
But "victors" sometimes are second-or last,
Despite the smile on their face.

I suppose I'm supposed,
To be humble and shy,
Instead of repeating my story,
But, if telling about me, gives others hope,
Then I give God the glory!
